REFUSING TO QUIT

DO NOT QUIT

Life’s challenging events and tough circumstances will test your conviction, dreams, and perspective, however, you owe it to yourself not to quit. Here’s a nice recap of the story of Charles Schulz, the creator of the Peanuts comic strip highlighting the ideal response to adversity and challenges. I have summarized the lessons and insights to consider –

“Sparky never had much going for him. He failed every subject in the 8th grade and several in high school.

  1. ON FAILURE — Remember you fail at things but you are not a failure! Sparky as a teenager never quite fit in anywhere, he was awkward both physically and socially. The most important thing in Sparky’s life was his drawing. He was proud of his artwork, even though no one else appreciated it.
  2. ON CONFIDENCE: Confidence is an inside job! People might doubt you, question or reject you but you must never reject or give up on yourself. Sparky submitted cartoons to the editors of his high school yearbook, but his work was rejected. He sent samples of his artwork to the Walt Disney Studios. Again, his work was rejected.
  3. ON PERSEVERANCE: Continue even when it doesn’t make sense. Do not give up on your dream or vision just because people do not see what you see. Sparky refused to quit! He continued to have confidence in his ability to create art. After being turned down by Walt Disney, he decided to write his own autobiography in cartoons. The character he created was Charlie Brown, who became famous worldwide. Sparky was Charles Schulz, creator of the Peanuts comic strip.

Can you imagine the world’s loss if Sparky had quit?
Now, juxtapose that with the world’s loss if you quit.

You must remember not to quit despite your present circumstances
Do not quit because your best days are still ahead of you.

You are a child of purpose and destiny!
You will win if you don’t quit.
